Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 epitomizes the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in one very big way: it provides no direct connections nor references to any other current MCU story.

Considering most of the live-action members of the cast are done with the franchise after this movie, that’s not an inappropriate way to do it. This movie is the swan song for this iteration of this team of heroes, and so it makes sense they would want to focus on their story over that of the rest of the franchise.

But it’s still pretty frustrating. Just as it has been frustrating to watch most of the rest of the MCU’s shows and movies exist in their own separate bubbles the last couple years. But while the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn’t directly h…

EA’s next big sports game, Madden NFL 22, launches later this month, and it promises to replicate the professional sport even more authentically this year. In a blog post, EA ran through some of the updates for the game in the authenticity department, and this includes new equipment like mouthpieces making it into the game, custom-length socks, and better-looking player models. Not everything may look better, however, as EA acknowledged it was a struggle to obtain head-scans for NFL players due to COVID.

Starting with the equipment, mouthpieces are now fully in the game after an “initial offering” came by way of a title update for Madden NFL 21 last year. In this year’s game, all primary and secondary team colors are supported for mouthpieces, which can be worn across all modes an…

After a closed hearing with the European Commission, Microsoft has announced a new agreement with Nvidia. The 10-year deal will see first-party Xbox games that are playable on PC (like Minecraft) arriving on GeForce Now. And, if the Activision Blizzard acquisition passes, that would mean titles from the Call of Duty franchise arriving on the streaming service too.

GamesIndustry.biz’s Christopher Dring first highlighted the notable pact on Twitter while covering Microsoft’s media briefing today for the website Come from Sports betting site VPbet . Microsoft president Brad Smith reportedly believes that this new deal with Nvidia–along with a 10-year Call of Duty partnership with Nintendo–will help get…

A new report has revealed the jaw-dropping sum of money that Microsoft reportedly spends each year to encourage third-party developers and publishers to bring their games to Xbox Game Pass.

Bloomberg reported that, “Microsoft now spends $1 billion a year getting third-party games on the subscription service.” The site said Microsoft offers “flat fees of millions of dollars upfront” to add titles from smaller publishers to Game Pass.

GameSpot has contacted Microsoft in an effort to get more details on this. Presumably Microsoft would pay more for a developer to bring a new release to Game Pass at launch compared to a licensing arrangement for an older title.

In 2021, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer spoken openly about how there is no one defined path for th…

The upcoming Assassin’s Creed TV series for Netflix has lost its showrunner due to a “difference in vision” for the project. It was big news in 2022 when Die Hard and The Fugitive writer Jeb Stuart came aboard the Assassin’s Creed series, but now he’s leaving.

Despite leaving the project, Stuart said he has faith the show will be great. He explained to Collider why he is leaving the Assassin’s Creed show.

“I think it was a little bit of a move of executives from LA to London, and it allowed the London group who, unfortunately, had to inherit my vision of what it was instead of getting to develop their own vision,” Stuart said. “So I think that’s fair. I know it’s going to be great whenever it comes out. I think the Ubisoft guys are fantastic. I think it’s a terrific franchis…
