A little over a month after New York’s gaming regulator approved new rules that allow for the provision of land-based sportsbetting and Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady has become the first to take advantage via the launch of an on-site sportsbook.

Opened in February of 2017 at a cost of $330 million, the facility run by Rush Street Gaming had already featured a casino offering some 1,150 slots alongside 67 gaming tables. The operator used an official Tuesday press release to explain that these have now been joined by a just over 5,000 sq ft sportsbook that gives punters the ability to place cash-only wagers on a wide range of professional and collegiate sports including basketball, football, soccer, baseball and ice hockey.
